Students ‘Splash of Colour’ profits €1,500 for charities

STUDENTS from St Mark’s Senior National School who recently took part in Bí Gnóthach, an initiative run by the Local Enterprise Board (LEO), donated money raised from their company to Citywise Education and the Fettercairn Youth Horse Project.

The students sourced donations to start up the company which was called “Splash of Colour”, and hand-dyed tee-shirts, caps, sock and scrunchies to make a profit of €1,500 which was donated to the two charities.

From the money raised, the school is also purchasing a Buddy Bench for its yard and the pupils are also treating themselves to a day out with the remaining money.

The local companies involved supporting ‘Splash of Colour’ included Coach Approach, Sean Nevins Printing, Valley News, The Echo Newspaper, Glanmore Foods, Complete Pest Control, and Tallaght Credit Union, along with the teachers and parents in St Mark’s SNS.

Citywise Education Chief Executive Officer Jonathon Doyle said: “Citywise Education were delighted to see the entrepreneurial spirit of the young people and were honoured they chose us as a recipient of their donation.

“We were thrilled to welcome them and their “Splash of Colour” products for a day of fun activities to celebrate their achievement.

“This project has taught the young people valuable lessons about product design, marketing and sales skills, and the confidence they’ve gained is evident to see. Congrats to the teachers of St Mark’s Senior National School on this fund and exciting classroom project”.
