Successful Tallaght café is meeting the needs of the community

ESTABLISHED 12 months ago, GK Café in Tymon North will celebrate its first anniversary with a family fun day on February 19, starting at 12 noon.

Located at Castletymon Shopping Centre, the business, set up by Keith Manning, employs five people.

Open seven days a week, the café supplies the local community with breakfast/lunch and “go above and beyond to cater for anyone with special dietary requirements.”

GK Café Manager Martina Glamcy said: “We opened on February 6 last year and it is going grand. There was nowhere else around like this in the community. Keith is very involved with the area, and sponsors the local football team Tymon Celtic.

“Customers love the breakfast and we are known for our coffee. In response to customer feedback we are looking at extending our lunch menu. We also do catering for all special occasions, and work nights to deliver to birthday parties and celebrations.”

All cakes and soda breads are baked in-store daily.

GK Café use the freshest ingredients available and try their best to use local suppliers, in an effort to support the local economy.

Customers have responded positively to the café and friendly atmosphere.

Complimentary reviews online include Maria Lawlor who calls the “food a delight – a new spot for me and the girls to pop into for lunch”, whilst John Marshall said food is “gorgeous – lovely staff and great prices.”

The family day on February 19 will feature a face painter, free samples of food, treats for kids, and customers will receive a 20 per cent discount from the café menu on the day, if they mention The Echo when ordering.

Open seven days a week, check GK Café Facebook for opening times, daily menus, and special offers.
