Summer projects receive €29,500 funding boost

Funds of €29,500 have been allocated to summer projects in the county this year by South Dublin County Council, according to figures released at Tuesday’s monthly council meeting.
The summer projects are aimed at providing a supervised programme of recreational and educational activities for young people over a consecutive number of weeks during the summer period, according to the council.
St Kevin's Family Resource Centre
The highest level of grant, €2,000, has been awarded to five summer projects, namely the Tallaght Travellers Summer Project, Citywise Education, St Jude’s Summer Project, the Killinarden Community Council Summer Project and the Web Summer Project.
Grants of €1,500 each have been awarded to St Kevin’s Family Resource Centre, the Kilnamanagh Summer Festival, the Fettercairn Summer Project – St Mark’s and Jobstown SCP.
Grants of €1,000 each have been awarded to Adamstown Summer Camp, the Holy Spirit Summer Project, Bawnogue Youth and Community Centre, St Pius X Summer Project, Lucan Youth Fun, Fettercairn Community and Youth Centre, the Whitechurch-Ballyboden Summer Project, The Park Community Centre, Knockmitten Youth and Community Centre, and the 6-12 Project.
The lowest level of grant, €500, has been awarded to the Sophia Housing Association, the Glenasmole Summer Project, the Foróige Stay Project, Social Circle, the Killinarden Family Resource Centre, Sensory Fun with Friends and the Palmerstown Community and Youth Centre-Palmerstown Creative Summer Project.
It is estimated that the grant supports will contribute towards approximately 6,000 young people in the county participating in summer projects this summer.
