Support your community clean-up day

Residents are encouraged to support a number of clean-up events taking place on Saturday across South County Dublin. 

People are invited to take part in Dodder Action Day on Saturday, April 21 – and help clean the natural asset for the wildlife that live in it and along its banks and for the enjoyment of members of the community.

Organised by voluntary group Dodder Action, the day is open to all – with equipment being provided.

Meeting points at local spots include, Rathfarnham (the Rathfarnham footbridge to Bushy Park), Firhouse (the carpark opposite the Speaker Conolly pub), Old Bawn (the entrance at Homelawn Road) and Sean Walsh Park (the recycling bins).

People are asked to gather at the meeting points on April 21 at 10am.

Tallaght Litter Mugs

Elsewhere, Tallaght Litter Mugs will be meeting at 10am on Saturday, April 21, at the recycling centre near the SDCC depot in Sean Walsh Park.

The group will be focusing its clean-up on the edges of the waterways in the park in support of the Dublin Waters Action Day initiative.

Clondalkin Tidy Towns

CLONDALKIN Tidy Towns invite members of the public to join them for this years National Spring Clean on Saturday, April 21.

The volunteer group plan on working in the Clondalkin Park and Camac River area, and are appealing for residents to help them tidy the locations in time for Summer.

CTT have equipment and tools for anyone who wishes to help out on the day.

The meeting point is Clondalkin Leisure Centre main car park at 10am on April 21. Everyone is welcome.

The Echo caught up with former Tallaght Person of the Year and well-known soccer referee Jimmy Wynne who was cutting the grass in the Balrothery Estate in Tallaght on Friday lunch time. 

There will also be other clean-up events at Dublin Mountain Way (behind Tallaght Stadium); St Dominics National School; Old Bawn Bridge and Balrothery Weir.

Gloves, litter picks and rubbish bags will be provided to those helping.
