Sysnet employees have a sleep-out for the homeless

EMPLOYEES braved chilly temperatures during a sleep-out in Park West Business Park – as part of a drive to raise funds for homeless services.

On Friday, 33 employees from Sysnet Global Solutions, slept rough in the courtyard of their office block to raise funds for the Focus Ireland Shine a Light 2016 initiative.

Sysnet staff slept on the grounds behind the company’s operation centre at Plaza Park West.

Melissa McNeill, Team Manager, Sysnet Global Solutions Service Centre, said: “There was a chill in the air with temperatures as low as 6 degrees.

“We couldn’t have made it through the night without the kind donations from The Borza in Walkinstown, who donated over 20 bags of chips and pizza, as well as Spar who donated goodies and the RnB Café Park West who also donated sandwiches.

“Our own Open Edge team organised a Sysnet barbecue with a delicious menu on offer with all funds going to Focus Ireland.

Special guests Colm O’Loughlin from the band ‘We Were Giants’, and our very own guitarist and singer Justin Mew, arrived on the night to keep us entertained and get us through the long dark hours.

In total 33 people took part in the sleep-out. So far we have raised €1,787.21.”

Sysnet – who help businesses improve their cyber security – have planned further events this week to raise funds for Focus Ireland, including a cake sale, raffle and fancy dress at their Park West office on Friday.

“A big thank-you to everyone who took part, especially to everyone who kindly donated,” said Melissa.”
