Tallaght buzzing as Penneys opens

PENNEYS has opened its doors in Tallaght after a decades-long wait by the community.

The new 43,400 sqft store in The Square opened to much celebration this morning, attracting throngs of eager customers and Taoiseach Micheal Martin.

Taking to Twitter after he officially opened the new store, Taoiseach Martin said: “Really enjoyed meeting all the staff, shoppers and community in Tallaght.

“Great to see this investment – and the 300 jobs created.”

The Square was buzzing this morning as the queue to get into the store stretched through Level 1 and out into the entrance by Dominos.

Shoppers of all ages waited eagerly to get into the store, which is packed with Penneys’ full range of fashion, homeware, and beauty – including a Nails@Penneys salon.

Tallaght is the home of Penneys’ 37th store and is the first new store in Dublin in the last six years, following its opening in Liffey Valley in December 2016.

Penneys Tallaght welcomes its first customers

Speaking last month, Jack Martin, Head of Retail for The Square Town Centre, said: “[Penneys] is a fantastic addition to the centre and will be widely welcomed by the community not just in Tallaght but many of the surrounding areas.

“Our partnership with Penneys marks a significant step in our development and we are very excited about the opportunity that this brings.”
