Tallaght Hospital ‘managing’ the level of Covid-19 activity

TALLAGHT University Hospital is “managing” the current level of Covid-19 activity in the facility, according to a spokesperson for the Dublin-Midlands Hospital Group.

The topic of the hospital’s response to current levels of Covid-19 cases was raised at a Dublin/Mid-Leinster Regional Health Forum meeting this week by Cllr Charlie O’Connor.

Cllr O’Connor asked for details of the latest Covid figures in the Tallaght area and for “assurances that the services are coping”.

“Tallaght University Hospital has maintained the Covid pathways – including the streaming of patients in our Emergency Department,” stated Trevor O’Callaghan from the Dublin-Midlands Hospital Group, at a recent Regional Health Forum meeting.

“The number of Covid presentation has stabilised, and the hospital has less than 10 in-patients with Covid at any time. There has also been a significant reduction in the number of staff with Covid.”

From April to August this year a total of 533 people who listed areas in Tallaght as their address were confirmed testing positive for Covid-19 via HSE PCR testing.

A total of 68 tested positive in May, this figure more than doubled in June when 184 tested positive, in July the figure continued to climb, with 233 testing positive that month, followed by 48 in August.
