A TALLAGHT man assaulted a motorist with a metal chain after the motorist rear-ended him, Blanchardstown Court has heard.
Judge David McHugh accepted jurisdiction in David White’s case.
White, aged 54, with an address Gleann Na Heorna, Springfield, Tallaght, is charged with assaulting a named male causing him harm and producing a metal chain at Leixlip Road, Lucan, on May 17, 2016.
He is also charged with failing to appear at Blanchardstown Court on February 23, 2017.
Sergeant Maria Callaghan told Judge McHugh that the DPP had directed summary disposal. She said it will be alleged that White was driving on the Leixlip Road on May 17, 2016 and the injured party was behind him.
Sgt Callaghan said it will be alleged that White stopped suddenly and the injured party went into the back of White’s car.
She said it will be alleged that the injured party got out of his car and asked White for his details.
White allegedly became aggressive and produced a metal chain and struck the man twice in the head. Sgt Callaghan said the injured party received two lacerations in the head. She added that it will be alleged that the injured party’s wallet was taken from his car.
Judge McHugh accepted jurisdiction. He remanded White on continuing bail for a month for a plea or a date for hearing.
