Tallaght set for Christmas GOAL Mile

THE 16th annual Goal Mile will once again take place this year at the Tallaght Athletic Club on Christmas Day, between at 9.30am and 12 noon.

Proceeds from the event will go to GOAL and their fight against poverty around the world.

Over the previous 15 years, there has been incredible support from the local community for the GOAL Mile from which €106,000 has been raised and gone directly to helping people in the poorest places.

In last year’s event alone, there was almost €9000 raised and it is hoped that next month’s event, which Shamrock Rovers striker Aaron Greene helped launch, will prove just as successful, if not more.

For people participating for the first time there is no need to register. Instead you can make a donation in the buckets at the finish line.

For everyone who completes the GOAL Mile, their time can be registered on a certificate at the end, with tea and coffee provided in the clubhouse afterwards.

If anybody would like a sponsorship card or would like more information about the event, they can call into the Tallaght AC clubhouse or contact John on 087 6934309

“This is very much a fun event with some people attending in fancy dress, so we would encourage families to come along to help some of the poorest people on the planet”, said Tallaght Athletic Club’s John Cullen.

GOAL currently have teams working in 13 different countries throughout the world. Indeed, in Ethiopia, last year, the charity helped more than 700,000 people in 40 locations providing emergency nutrition and water after devastation caused by years of drought.
