PLANS for the development of a 7.7-hectare public park on Tandy’s Lane in Lucan have been given the go-ahead by South Dublin County Council.

The proposed development, to be called Tandy’s Lane Park, will also contain a playing pitch, a natural play/neighbourhood play area and 48 bicycle parking spaces.

Previously permitted features of the development will include a children’s play area, a 39-space car park and a new vehicular access and egress point.

There are provisions for all ancillary site development and landscaping works, including paths, planting, surface water drainage and boundaries, and the incorporation of a length of Tandy’s Lane into Tandy’s Lane Park.

The applicant, Adamstown Infrastructure DAC, also sought permission for the redistribution and re-profiling of 30,400 cubic metres of soil spoilt from within the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone.

Permission for minor revisions to previous planning applications formed part of the application, chiefly revisions to the layout of a previous permitted portion of Tandy’s Lane Park, and revisions to a permitted loop road as part of the development.

South Dublin County Council granted permission for the development this month, with a number of conditions.

These conditions include the submission of a universal accessibility map in advance of work commencing on the development, the stipulation that the playing pitch shall be a sand-based pitch and that a bat report which was submitted as part of the application should be adhered to.
