Teenager accused of throwing stones at car remanded to see if he is suitable for the JLO

A TEENAGER accused of throwing stones at a car had his case remanded by Tallaght Court to see if he is suitable for the juvenile liason scheme.

The 15-year-old, who has an address in Tallaght, pleaded guilty to damaging a car at a location in Tallaght on July 11, 2017.

Sergeant Eithne Madden told the court that on the above date gardai responded to a call that three youths were throwing stones at cars.

Sgt Madden said the teenager and the other two teenagers were arrested and the other two were later dealt with under the Juvenile Liaison Officer (JLO).

She said the teenager had no previous convictions.

Judge Patricia McNamara asked why the teenager had not been dealt with under the JLO.

Sgt Madden said: “He refused it.”

The teenager told Judge McNamara: “I wasn’t there”.

Judge McNamara asked him why he was pleading guilty.

The teenager’s father said there had been a misunderstanding.

Judge McNamara said the teenager should be offered the JLO.

She remanded him on continuing bail to a date in January to see if he was suitable for the JLO.
