Teens kicked man in the head outside takeaway

THREE TEENAGERS, accused of punching and kicking a man (21) who was leaving a Chinese takeaway, have appeared before Tallaght Court.

One has pleaded guilty, one has pleaded not guilty and one had his case remanded.

The teenagers, a 17-year-old with an address in Lucan, a 17-year-old with an address in Tallaght, and a 16-year-old with an address in Tallaght, are charged with violent disorder at a location in Tallaght on November 4, 2015.

The two 17-year-olds are also charged with robbing the 21-year-old of his bicycle also at the location in Tallaght on November 4, 2015.

The court had previously accepted jurisdiction in the case.

In relation to the first 17-year-old, his solicitor, Michael Hennessy, told Judge John Lindsay that his client was pleading not guilty.

Judge Lindsay remanded the teenager on continuing bail for three weeks to a date in Court 55 for hearing.

In relation to the second 17-year-old, Mr Hennessy said his client was pleading guilty to the violent disorder charge, but not to robbing the bicycle.

Garda John Tuthill told the court that at 11.30pm on November 4, 2015, the injured party went to a Chinese takeaway on his pushbike. He said a large group of teenagers had congregated outside.

He said the injured party went into the takeaway with his bicycle. Garda Tuthill said that as the injured party was leaving the takeaway he was jostled by the teenagers and was punched numerous times to his face and received a number of kicks to his head.

He said CCTV footage showed the 17-year-old taking part in the assault. Judge Lindsay remanded the 17-year-old for four weeks for a probation report.

In relation to the 16-year-old, his counsel, George Burns Bl, asked Judge Linsday for a further remand for his instructing solicitor to go through the case with his client.

Judge Lindsay remanded the teenager on continuing bail for two weeks for mention.
