IT WAS a birthday like no other for Tallaght resident Teresa Reck who turned 80 last week.

Despite being in lockdown, Teresa’s family, friends and neighbours made sure that her special birthday didn’t pass quietly.

Living in Millbrook Lawns, Teresa came to Dublin from Westmeath more than 60 years ago and reared her family with husband Tom in Tallaght.

Together Tom, who passed away in 2019, and Teresa had six children, and now have 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Her daughter Helen told The Echo: “My mam is into her garden, her art and is a real family woman.

“She loves all of the kids, all of us, and all of her friends.

“Lockdown is not easy for her as she’s always out… she’s very active.”

A group of 50 family and friends had planned a weekend away together in Wexford to celebrate Teresa’s 80th, but the bash had to be cancelled due to current restrictions.

“My mam will party in style when all of this is over”, Helen said.

“My mam is absolutely brilliant, and even though she was disappointed that the party was cancelled she really made the most of her day.

“The family spread out a few visits and the neighbours were great, they put signs up wishing her a happy birthday.”

Happy Birthday to Teresa  from all of her friends, family and neighbours and from everyone here at The Echo.
