Tesco plans for ancillary off-licence in retail unit at Cookstown Industrial Estate

TESCO is seeking planning permission for the development of an ancillary off-licence in a retail unit on the ground floor of a permitted apartment block on Second Avenue in Cookstown Industrial Estate.

The subject site formerly housed Bailey’s Cars, which has been developed into a 196- unit apartment development.

The development is to contain 45 studio apartments, 48 one-bedroom apartments and 103 two-bedroom apartments, all to be housed in four six- to nine-storey blocks over basement.

Provision of a commercial unit, community rooms, an office, a crèche and a gym, along with a landscaped courtyard bicycle store and underground car park, is included.

The development of the apartments and the commercial unit, community rooms, office, creche and gym were all approved several years ago.

However, in a new planning application submitted this month, Tesco is seeking permission for an ancillary off-licence in part of the approved commercial unit.

The provision of associated signage to the front elevation compromising one signage panel with backlit pin mounted lettering within the designated signage zone is included.

Permission is also being sought for an internally illuminated projection sign, information signage and one internally illuminated sign over the customer entrance.

Minor works including louvres to the rear elevation, new bi-parting doors, frosted vinyl and vinyl with graphic coverings and manifestations to glazing to the front elevation form part of the plans.

Submissions can be made on the ancillary off-licence proposal until April 22, while a decision on the application is due from South Dublin County Council by May 13.
