The Echo is donating ads back to our community

By Maurice Garvey

THE Echo Newspaper have over 60 free quarter page adverts to donate back to our community - all with thanks to advertisers who paid for their ads during April and May 2020.

In the early stages of Covid-19, when things were looking bleak for the local economy, The Echo’s MD Emma Kennedy made the decision that for every advert that businesses paid for in April and May, that The Echo would donate back free advertising space for local small businesses and organisations, who have been affected by the pandemic.

Many wonderful local businesses and organisations responded to the appeal of supporting SME’s, and took out advertising in The Echo during the height of Covid-19.

On May 12, national broadcaster RTE featured the novel idea on Six One News and Nuacht, as part of a segment looking at how local businesses are coping during Covid-19.

As a result of the initiative, a number of local charities have already been donated ads in their local paper.

“We will do our very best to accommodate as many applications as possible and we will notify you by email if you have been awarded an ad,” said Emma Kennedy of the free quarter page adverts.
