The legend of ‘Big Tom’ the Ballyfermot Dublin Bus driver
As Dublin Bus continue their celebrations to mark 30 years in operation, they have been sharing stories about some of the more colourful characters they have had working on the buses.
One of these is ‘Big Tom’ from Ballyfermot, who earned the respect of the whole community by organising day trips for the youths of the inner city, bringing them on the bus to parts of the city they had never seen.
Dublin Bus have put together several videos with stories of drivers, inspectors and customers who became legends.
Narrated by Damien Dempsey, the stories are just a glimpse into the world of Dublin Bus, and what goes on when the buses leave their base to serve the community from morning until night.
