The new Tallaght village Lidl has been a big hit already

Lidl has announced this week the creation of 15 new jobs with the reopening of a new and improved store in Tallaght.
The announcement sees the total number of employees in the Republic of Ireland rise to 4,295.

After 27 weeks of construction, the 2,753 sq m store opened on Main Road, Tallaght at 8am boasting a brand new architectural design and spacious layout incorporating wider aisles, as well as improved staff and customer facilities.

Speaking about the opening, Niall Murray, Regional Director at Lidl Ireland, said: “We are delighted to reopen our new and improved store to our customers in Tallaght, offering some fantastic offers just in time for Christmas.

“This is our 149th store in Ireland and we have created 15 new jobs for the area, reinforcing our commitment to local employment.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our store opening by making a €1,000 voucher donation to Focus Ireland, who will be distributing these to a number of families in the locality”. 

Lidl is committed to working with its growing number of over-180 Irish suppliers to bring the best of fresh, local produce to its network of 149 stores throughout the Republic of Ireland. Lidl Ireland invests €500 million per annum in sourcing Irish goods and services.

The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr Katherine Zappone added: “Lidl is to be congratulated for following through on its commitment to deliver local jobs for Tallaght with the opening of the new store.

“The new improved shopping experience will also be welcomed by all customers – and hopefully generate increased demand for local produce.

“As Minister I want to acknowledge the support management and staff at Lidl have given to the important work of Barretstown with children in our communities – and now again with its support for Focus Ireland. ”
