A NEW interactive directory of mental health services in West Tallaght and North Clondalkin has been published and is available online for anybody seeking support in their area.

In 2017, the South Dublin County Partnership (SDCP) developed the Resilience Project in response to the high number of deaths by suicide in the areas of West Tallaght and North Clondalkin.

The Resilience Project was funded by SDCP, South Dublin County Council, the HSE and Tusla, with a project manager engaged in 2019 on a two-year contract.

One aim of the project was to examine how best to bring together stakeholders to support communities using existing resources, and to map existing support services.

Speaking with The Echo this week, Catherine Mooney, Health and Wellbeing Senior Manager with the South Dublin County Partnership said: “Anyone who is having difficulties with their mental health or who is feeling anxious or stressed, the first protocol should always be your GP.

“The directory is a great resource for anybody looking to learn about or find support services in their area.

“It’s also a resource for services to help guide or direct clients or people living in the community to services in their area.

“We found that there were issues around people not knowing what was in their area, there could be a service around the corner that can help.”

The easy-to-use directory is colour coded and includes information on services involved in addiction, family support, youth, wellbeing, bereavement, counselling and education and training.

Health centres, Traveller support services, community mental health services, suicide prevention groups and Covid-19 related services are also listed on the directory, which can be navigated by area and service.

The map for both Tallaght and Clondalkin allows the user to hover over the services pinned on a map or the service or support needed can be entered into a search bar.

Each service’s location is mapped and is accompanied by information and contact details.
