
Three men charged after tools worth €70,000 stolen from building sites
THREE men have been charged in relation to a number of burglaries at building sites across Dublin over the past two weeks.
Gardai from the Crime Unit arrested the men at a building site in Liffey Valley in Clondalkin in the early hours of Friday morning area after an estimated €70,000 combined worth of tools during six burglaries occurred in Dublin 24, Dublin 22 and Dublin City Centre between October 5 and October 18.
Gardaí arrested three men (two aged in their 20’s and one in his 30’s) in connection with the investigation and are currently detained pursuant to Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, at a Garda Station in the Dublin area.
A garda statement issued on Sunday said: “As part of an ongoing investigation into a number of burglaries at building sites in across the Dublin region, Gardaí attached to the Crime Unit at Store Street Garda Station have arrested and charged three men, in the Dublin 22 area, on Friday 18th October 2024.
“It is estimated that tools with a combined value of over €70,000 were taken, during the course of six burglaries, and one attempted burglary, across the Dublin City Centre, Dublin 3, Dublin 22 and Dublin 24 areas, between Saturday 5th and Friday 18th October 2024.
“As part of an intelligence-led operation, Gardaí arrested three men (two aged in their 20’s and one in his 30’s) at a building site in the Liffey Valley area of Dublin, in the early hours of Friday 18th October 2024.
“During the course of a number of follow-up searches, a large quantity of property was recovered. This is believed to be some, if not all, of the property stolen between Saturday 5th and Friday 18th October 2024.
“The three men arrested in connection with the investigation were detained pursuant to Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, at a Garda Station in the Dublin area”.
The men have since been charged and are due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ) on Monday morning, October 21.
Gardai say investigations ongoing.
