Tower see off Templeogue

IN A thrilling 2-12 to 1-11football league clash last Sunday, Round Tower hosted Templeogue Sing Street in Monastery Road reports Rory Merriman.

Under the watchful eye of manager Liam Connolly, Round Tower came out on top, continuing their winning streak following their victorious opener against Raheny.

From the outset, Round Tower stamped their authority on the game with a flurry of early points. Senan Kavanagh, Sean O’Mahony, and the formidable Mick “The Brick” Broderick showcased their attacking prowess, putting three quick points on the board.

However, Templeogue swiftly responded with a goal, leveling the score.

Undeterred, Round Tower continued to press forward, with Broderick dominating the forward line.

His clinical finishing saw him slot home a goal and add a couple of points to Round Tower tally, ensuring they held a narrow lead of 1-4 to 1-3 at halftime.

The second half saw Templeogue come out of the blocks firing, as they notched up three unanswered points, seizing the momentum and taking a two-point lead with 20 minutes remaining.

However, Round Tower refused to be outdone on their home turf.

To the delight of the Round Tower faithful, Mick “The Brick” Broderick once again proved to be their savior, as he found the back of the net for the second time in the match.

Sean O’Mahony added more points to Round Tower total, swinging the momentum back in their favor.

As the game entered its final stages, Round Tower showcased their defensive resilience, with David Chapman leading the backline alongside Rory and Conor Broderick.

Their steadfast efforts ensured that Templeogue were kept at bay, as Round Tower held on to their lead.

When the final whistle blew, it was Round Tower who emerged victorious, with the scoreboard reading 2-12 to 1-11 in their favor.

It was a hard-fought battle from start to finish, with Round Tower displaying both their attacking flair and defensive solidity to secure another important win in their Division 5 football league campaign.
