Traveller convoy leaves Ballymount development

AS SOON as it was there, it was gone.

A few weeks ago saw an unusual development in Ballymount when a Traveller convoy popped up in a section of the Merrywell Industrial Estate.

The Echo understands the convoy was sighted on Tuesday, March 23, and it contained a significant amount of people, vehicles and mobile homes.

However, by Monday morning, March 29, this week, all trace of the convoy was gone, and boulders had been reinstated at the entrance to land in the estate.

The Echo contacted the estate managers Mason Owen & Lyons but did not receive a response at the time of going to print.

South Dublin County Council had no comment to make regarding the query.

A garda spokesperson said they had “no role to play in an eviction”.

“Gardai were present to ensure no breach of peace.

“No action was taken and no complaints forthcoming.”
