Ukraine Boxing Festival supports families

NEILSTOWN Boxing Club held a ‘Ukraine Boxing Club Festival’ last weekend, with all proceeds raised going to 28 Ukrainian families who have moved into the area.

The fundraising event was held at the boxing club on Sunday, April 10, with clubs participating from Tipperary, Kildare and Dublin all in aid of Ukrainian refugees who are living in the community.

Around 30 Ukrainian refugees attended the event, many of which are currently residing in the nearby Clayton Hotel in Liffey Valley.

The community garda supplied the presentations on the day, presenting all of the winning boxers with prizes and also organised transport for the families to the event.

“There was a great turnout and support from the community on the day so a big thanks to all,” said head coach Ger Fleming.

Speaking about the event, the club posted a message stating: “It was a great boxing festival on Sunday. We would like to thank all the visiting clubs from around the country, boxers and coaches and thank you to everyone who supported this event.

“Thank you to the families and children from the Ukraine who attended the boxing festival and are staying in the local hotel.

“We would hope that these children can come to the club and use the facility Free of charge.”
