Unique art of Croft nursing home residents goes on display

RESIDENTS of the Croft nursing home in Inchicore are putting the finishing touches to their artwork in advance of the launch of their art exhibition in Ballyfermot Library next Thursday, July 14 at 3pm.

Seven of the nursing home’s residents will get to see their work on display in a culmination of several months of dedicated work on their unique artistic creations.

The project is being organised by Della Kelly, the nursing home’s activities coordinator, as a way of recognising the residents’ work and bringing it to the wider community.

Ms Kelly told The Echo: “The artwork is their own style and, to them, it’s perfect. They’ve been working on it since February.

“They would’ve started off doing art once a week, then twice a week, and now it’s four times a week.

“They enjoy doing it and they’re proud of their work. They’re all very excited and very happy that people will be seeing their artwork.

“I think it’s brilliant for them, especially after the two years they’ve had where visitors were few and far between, but now they can show people what they’ve done.”

The exhibition will be launched in the library at 3pm on Thursday, July 14, and will continue to be on display in the library for a week afterwards until Thursday, July 21 inclusive.

“These are residents from the Croft Nursing Home who enjoy their work and are very proud of it, as are we,” said Ms Kelly.

“They’re put in an awful lot of effort, which they deserve credit for, and if people want to come down to the exhibition, we’d be very happy to welcome them.”
