VIDEO: Robbie Keane pays homage to Crumlin United on 50th anniversary

Tallaght’s Robbie Keane has paid homage to his former club, Crumlin United.

The FAI Hall of Famer sent a video to Crumlin United Football Club ahead of its 50th anniversary celebrations last weekend.

Keane started his football career with Fettercairn Youth Football Club before joining Crumlin United at the age of 10.

The Tallaght soccer legend apologised for missing the club’s 50th celebrations and joked: “Believe it or not, I’m still playing football and still banging in the goals.”

He said he had “unbelievable memories” from his time in the club, playing at Pearse Park on Saturday mornings and thanked his former coaches Jem Loughran and Larry Fox.

He remarked on Crumlin United’s “great history and tradition” and said: “I just wanted to wish yous a happy 50th anniversary and I’m sure you’ll have a great evening.
