OVER €1,000 was raised for Tallaght families in need by donations collected by The Vine Group before their performances of the musical ‘A Christmas Canticle’ last week.

The performances were held in St Mark’s Church in Springfield on Friday and St Mary’s Priory on Saturday, featuring performances from members of The Vine Group.

The Tallaght-based group is made up of parishioners from the Church of the Incarnation in Fettercairn, St Thomas the Apostle in Jobstown and St Mary’s Priory in Tallaght Village, and they held two performances of the musical to kick off their ‘Help Us Help Others’ campaign.

The campaign is focused on the group fundraising for families in need in Tallaght, with the group working in collaboration with St Vincent de Paul to ensure that families in need in the locality will receive the funds.

Joe Geoghegan from The Vine Group told The Echo: “We’re going to be fundraising for the whole year for ‘Help Us Help Others’.

“This is the start of this year’s campaign, so there will be other events coming up.

“We’re trying have an impact on the community, we want to do positive things in Tallaght.

“It’s very important for us to help people that need help.”
