Walking the hills in the wonderland of Wicklow

CLONDALKIN Hillwalking group kicks off their year with a walk in Wicklow this Sunday, January 20.
The group has been walking hills around the country and abroad since 1991, and contains members from Clondalkin, Tallaght and Lucan.

Ann O’Neill, secretary of the group, said they are always looking for new members to join their expeditions.
“We meet up every second week in Clondalkin Sports and Leisure Centre at 9am, and pool cars,” she said.
“This week we are going to a place near Baltinglass, Wicklow. Our walks in January and February are ideal for anyone new to hillwalking. The walks are three to five hours maximum, and include a picnic along the way. We usually make a day out of it.
“We also do weekends away during the year. In May, we are going to the Blue Stack mountains in Donegal, and there are plans to go to the Lake District in England in June.”
