UPDATED: Walkinstown crash victim revived and now fighting for life in Tallaght Hospital

***UPDATED 19:25: Gardai have confirmed to Echo.ie that the man has now sadly passed away.

A man in his 70s who was pronounced dead at the scene of a four car collision in Walkinstown this afternoon is in fact now fighting for his life in Tallaght Hospital.

In an unusual turn of events a garda spokesperson has confirmed to Echo.ie that although the man was pronounced dead, paramedics continued to work on him on the way to the hospital.

In an updated statement this evening gardai said: “The man injured in this collision is currently in Tallaght Hospital were his condition is described as critical.”   

The incident occurred at 1.10pm this afternoon on St Peter’s Road in Walkinstown.

The man in his 70s was the sole occupant of the vehicle he was driving, with the occupants of the three other vehicles involved unharmed.
