“We won’t be taking our eye off the ball”- Finn

SHAMROCK Rovers skipper Ronan Finn insists the Hoops will not be taking their foot off the pedal as they look to remain top of the Airtricity League table.
Stephen Bradley’s side welcome Sligo Rovers to Tallaght Stadium tomorrow night knowing victory will keep them at the summit.

Yet the Bit O’Red will have other ideas and will be hoping to maintain the momentum they have generated with recent wins over Finn Harps and UCD.
Sligo boss Liam Buckley is no stranger to the challenge of Rovers, having enjoyed his share of good days against the Hoops when manager of St Patrick’s Athletic.
Rovers, themselves, have made an encouraging start to their 2019 campaign but Finn has warned against complacency.
“We are where we want to be, but we’re all too aware that it’s early days and none of us are getting ahead of ourselves.
“We have looked at previous games, but the main focus is to move on to the next game.
“We’re not going to take our eye off the ball and we’ll treat Sligo with every bit of respect.
“Historically, us and Sligo have always had good games. They beat us in the last game of last season so we won’t be taking this game lightly.
“They have some really good players there and Liam Buckley is a very good manager. We’re under no illusions that they’re coming to Tallaght to get a result.”
Rovers will be coming into this match on the back of their 1-0 victory over St Pat’s in Richmond Park last Friday.
“Pat’s are a good side” continued Finn. “They recruited well in the off season and going to Richmond Park is always tricky.
“I think those who were at the match could see that we dominated possession and our intensity was good.
“We should have had more than one goal but, with a really good defence and a great goalkeeper, that’s all we needed.”
Finn is also pleased with the balance of the side adding “We’ve kept the spine of the team from last year with a couple of players coming in seamlessly and, for the manager, that’s very beneficial.”
