Witness appeal following cash-in-transit robbery

GARDAI in Terenure are appealing for witnesses following a cash-in-transit robbery in Templeogue over the weekend.

According to a Garda statement issued, two men approached and threatened a cash-in-transit security staff member outside the shopping centre on Orwell Road at around 6.20pm on Saturday, November 26.

The men entered the cash-in-transit van and removed a safe with an angle grinder before leaving the scene in a silver saloon car.

A Garda spokesperson said: “None of the security personnel were physically harmed in the course of the incident.

“The safe contained an undisclosed sum of cash.

“The car, described as a silver Ford Focus, was later discovered burnt out at Dunree Park, Coolock, Dublin 5”.

Gardai at Terenure are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Motorists with dash-cam and those with video footage from the Orwell Shopping Centre/Orwell Road area at the time of the incident or with footage of the car as it left the area are also asked to make it available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Terenure Garda Station on 01 6666400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
