Woman fatally injured after being struck by Luas tram in Tallaght

GARDAI in Tallaght are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a tram and a pedestrian between the Cookstown and Tallaght Hospital Luas stops this morning.

A woman was fatally injured when she was struck by a tram travelling Tallaght-bound at around 10am.

According to a Garda statement: “Gardai in Tallaght are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a tram and a pedestrian between the Cookstown and Tallaght Hospital Luas stops, Tallaght bound, this morning (14/02/19) at approximately 10am.

“A woman (no age confirmed) was fatally injured when she was struck by a tram.”

Gardai are appealing for witnesses who were on the tram at the time, witnesses who were on Cookstown Way or any motorist who may have dash cam footage to contact them.

Diversions are in place around the area, with Luas services between Belgard and Tallaght suspended.
