Young child dies following stabbing incident in Kimmage

A young infant child has died following a stabbing incident in the Kimmage area this evening.

Emergency services were called to an apartment block in the Poddle Park area around 7pm.

A woman (40s) has been rushed to St James’ Hospital where she is being treated for knife wounds.

A statement from Gardai tonight confirmed the incident, with a spokesperson saying: “Gardai in Crumlin are investigating a homicide of an infant child (male) that occurred this evening at approximately 7pm in the Poddle Park area.

“An adult female (early 40s) was also injured in the incident and has been taken to St James’ Hospital where her condition is described as serious.

“The discovery was made when Gardai were called to a house in Poddle Park, The infant was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Officers currently have the scene sealed off, and Gardai at Crumlin Garda Station are appealing for witnesses to contact them immediately on 01-6666200.
