Young Coby proving a real contender

AT ONLY ten-years-old Clondalkin native Alyx Coby is proving a real contender in the Alyx Coby Karting image5 resizeMotorsport Ireland Cadet Karting Championship.
Two wins in the third round of the series in Cork has rocketed her up to second position overall with Athboy her next stop on the campaign this weekend.
Finishing second in the two heats in Cork, she qualified on pole for the two finals and carded her best result of the season.
The opening round in Nutts Corner saw her dig out a fifth and sixth place finish having had to start from the back of the grid, after which she took fourth and fifth place in White River near Dundalk.
This season marks her third year in the sport and she looks likely to figure in the shake-up for the overall prize.
She has certainly benefitted from her recent trip to England where she contested the Manchester and Buxton K Club Winter Series, carding seventh and fourth place finishes in grids of 32 cars.Alyx Coby Karting image1 resize
Karting is certainly something that runs in the Coby family with Alyx’s father Gary having competed quite successfully in previous years while her uncle Aaron is still driving and is this year contesting the Premier Senior class in the X30 Championship.
He scored a runner-up and third place finish in Cork to leave himself fourth overall in the series before he too heads to Athboy this weekend.
