10 water fountains to cost council €73,000
SOUTH Dublin County Council are to install 10 water fountains at different locations in the county throughout 2020.
The water fountains or water stations cost €7,300 each. At the January meeting of SDCC, Councillor Francis Timmons put down a question asking for a report on the cost of the water fountains and how many more are planned for the county.

In their reply, the council stated that seven water fountains had been installed in the county to date, two in Tymon Park and one each at County Hall, Griffeen Valley Park, Rathfarnham Castle Park, Rathcoole Village and Lucan Village.
Two more are to be installed early in the New Year in Clondalkin Village and Waterstown Park.
The council said they plan to install a further eight water fountains in 2020. Locations for the water fountains are being considered.
They added: “It is intended that usage data available from the existing units will help to make the final decision on the second round of locations.
“Locations chosen to date have either been town or village centres or in the County’s main parks, with locations where park runs are held being chosen due to high footfall and expected high usage as a result.”
