Abandoned canal boats give rise to concern
A letter has been sent to Waterways Ireland concerning boats located along the newly opened 12th Lock section of the Grand Canal Greenway that “appear to be abandoned.”
Elected members have agreed to send a letter to cross-border navigational authority to notify them of the situation on the new greenway, have them outline the current procedure for identifying and removing abandoned boats and confirm if there are plans to remove them.
