Another milestone for Team James

TEAM James recorded another milestone when they ran the Great Limerick Run in just under four hours.

James Casserly (12), his father, Dan Naughton, and Karl O’Toole all ran the marathon distance in the Great Limerick Run.

James got out of his wheelchair to run the final 100 metres

James actually got out of his wheelchair and ran the last 100 metres. A keen Paralympian, James already competes for his school at cross-country running and he plays frame football with Esker Celtic.

James’ mother Vicki told The Echo: “It was something James has always wanted to do.

“So when Dan saw that it was going to be under four hours, they decided to go for it.

“So James and his amazing daddy and Karl did it! Under 4 hours! Our little paralympian finished the marathon all by himself.”

James has Cerebral Palsy, which affects his core and lower limbs.

He had a selective dorsal rhizotomy in April 2012 which involved intensive physio recovery.

Three years ago he was diagnosed with idiopathic juvenile arthritis, affecting most joints.

Barretstown

This year James and Dan want to raise funds for Barretstown which holds a super special place in James heart with treasured memories.

They raised over €1,000 from the Great Limerick Run.

Next on the agenda is the Dublin Race Series which leads up to the Dublin City Marathon.

They are looking for lots of support.
