Baton Twirlers win 12 trophies in All-Ireland competition

A GROUP of girls from a Killinarden-based baton twirling group won 12 trophies at the All-Ireland Majorettes Baton and Pom-Pom Competitions 2019 in Trabolgan, Cork last weekend.

The 30-strong group from Butterfly Twirlers, who range from two- to 18-years-old, wowed the judges at the competition and brought their trophies back home to Tallaght after their exciting weekend.

Yvonne O’Connor from Butterfly Twirlers told The Echo: “It was great, we won 12 trophies in all.

“The atmosphere at the competition was electric, it was fabulous.

“[Winning the trophies] was a great achievement for the girls, they worked really hard to get where they are.

“Every team [from Butterfly Twirlers] placed, it boosted their confidence and it’s great encouragement for them.”

Aisling Kelly, who runs Butterfly Twirlers, added: “Firstly, I want to say a huge well done to all our dancers, you did the club proud and [your] dancing was amazing, we are so proud of you.

“Secondly, a huge thank you to our amazing parents for all your help over the last few months and the weekend.

“And lastly, thank you to my amazing committee and teachers for everything you have done for the club.”
