Bluebell stay in Major Division hunt

BLUEBELL United remained on the trail of LSL Major Saturday leaders Cherry Orchard after recording a 4-2 victory over table props Dublin Bus last weekend.

The visitors to Coldcut took a two-goal lead early on only to see the Bus restore parity before the halftime break.

Yet, second half goals by James O’Brien and Gary Deans saw Bluebell to the spoils which leaves them five behind the Orchard with a match in hand.

Deans also accounted for their opening goal when his shot cannoned back off the post and hit goalkeeper Nathan Clarke before rolling over the line.

Michael Fox made it 2-0 when he raced on to a ball over the top by Willo McDonagh before firing home only to see the Bus fight back ahead of the recess.

Ciaran Duffy found the target from the penalty spot before he sent another spotkick over the bar.

Yet, the host side restored parity when Paul Cunningham managed to bundle the ball over the line late on in the first half.

Bluebell edged back in front 12 minutes into the second half when James O’Brien spotted the Bus netminder off his line and launched an attempt from some 40 yards that dropped to the target.

And applying the crucial touch to a goalmouth scramble, Deans doubled his side’s advantage to help see them over the line.
