Boy (13) drowns in River Liffey near Chapelizod

A 13-year-old boy has drowned in the River Liffey between Islandbridge and Chapelizod this afternoon.
Gardai and emergency services received a call for help near the area at around 2:15pm.
It has been confirmed that a search was carried out and the boy’s body was recovered shortly after 4pm.
The body of the boy remains at the scene, but will be moved to St James’s Hospital for a post mortem.
Commenting on the tragedy this afternoon, Cllr Daithí Doolan said, “Deepest sympathy to the parents, family & friends. Please be careful when near water during this good weather.”
