Call for City Manager’s resignation
BUSINESSES in Inchicore have signed a petition calling for Dublin City Council Manager Owen Keegan to resign – if action is not taken to reverse the doubling of commercial rates.
The latest rates bill issued by the Commissioner of Valuation in January, is the last straw for many businesses, who are fed up paying “money for nothing” and fear they may have to close down or move, if the problem isn’t addressed.
The rate used to cover waste, water and cleaning, before those services were privatised.
Up to 40 businesses in Inchicore signed the petition after a meeting in The Black Lion last week.
Acting on behalf of the businesses, Sinn Féin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh sent the petition to Owen Keegan and to Minister for Environment Alan Kelly.
