‘Castle’ students win scholarships
By Maurice Garvey
THREE Drimnagh Castle Secondary School students have received scholarship awards ranging in value from €4,200 to €1,400 per year.
Maksim Jancenko, Ciarán Nolan and Conor Foley were presented their scholarships by the chairperson of the school’s Board of Management, Mary Dowling Maher.
The scholarships were provided by a former pupil to provide financial support for Drimnagh Castle students going into third level.
Drimnagh Castle principal John Devilly congratulated the three student recipients and looked forward to more students receiving scholarships in the future.
He felt it was a proud time for the science teachers of Drimnagh Castle Secondary School, as all three students were now studying science disciplines.
All three students acknowledged the value of the scholarships in terms of motivation and financial assistance.
Macksim Jancenko is studying for a BSc in Applied Physics in Dublin City University while both Ciarán Nolan and Conor Foley are studying Science in Trinity College.
Principal Devilly invited the students back to the school next year, to share their college experiences, and to encourage other students to aim high in their futures.
