By Mary Dennehy
A CELEBRATION of Ann Louise Gilligan’s life is taking place in An Cosan today from 2pm, with the community invited to pay their respects at a wake service in the Jobstown education centre from 3pm to 5pm.
Ann Louise, who, married to Minister Katherine Zappone, is a co-founder and director of An Cosan, passed away this week after a short illness.
Ann Louise was a teacher at St Patrick’s in Drumcondra and also taught at Dublin City University (DCU), and, in a statement after her passing, Minister Zappone praised her partner’s “exceptional love of children” – which “lives on through the work of the thousands of primary school teachers she educated throughout the country.”
Minister Zappone added: “As co-founder and director of An Cosan, a centre of learning, leadership and enterprise in Jobstown, Tallaght West, Ann Louise demonstrated her commitment and love for the people of Tallaght and the wider communities.”
An Cosan is today hosting a celebration of Ann Louise’s life and a wake service, which starts at 2pm and is open to members of the public.
After tributes are made, a wake serve will be held in the education centre and members of the community are invited to attend and pay their respects between 3pm and 5pm.
The funeral mass will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at 11.30am in the Helix, DCU, after which Ann Louise will be laid to rest in Manor Kilbride Cemetery, County Wicklow.
