LIFE is a little bit brighter at An Cosán, Tallaght as their premises, which provides community education and counselling services, has received support of more than €30,000 from Centra retailers and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

The grant support, which was received through SEAI’s Better Energy Communities programme, will improve the energy efficiency of An Cosán’s community resource centre located at Kiltalown Village Centre, Jobstown, Tallaght helping to lower their running costs.

This is part of a nationwide scheme, which has seen An Cosán and 21 Irish Cancer Society charity stores throughout the country benefitting from funds totalling €127,000.

The support has allowed them to make much-needed upgrades to boilers and heating controls, roof and cavity wall insulation, low-energy lighting and air-to-water heat pumps.

Commenting on this exciting partnership, Anne Genockey, General Manager of An Cosán, said “We are extremely grateful to the 23 Centra stores, especially our own local Lyon’s Centra Jobstown and the SEAI for their support.

“The savings we will make on energy costs at our stores will be redirected into services and support the local community in the areas of early education and care.”

This campaign is part of Centra’s ongoing commitment to create vibrant local communities throughout the country.

Commenting, Martin Kelleher, Managing Director of Centra, said, “Through our existing partnerships with communities nationwide we have seen first-hand the fantastic work that volunteers groups like An Cosán do and are delighted that through the SEAI scheme we can expand our support of this community resource.

“We hope our contribution, and that of the SEAI, helps to make the premises more cost-efficient and that in the long term staff, volunteers and service users will benefit.”
