Child ‘100 per cent absent from school’

A MOTHER whose child has been “100 per cent absent from school” has appeared before Tallaght District Court.
The woman, who has an address in Tallaght, is accused of failing to comply with a school attendance notice ensuring her daughters attendance at a school in Tallaght from a date in 2018.
Judge Patricia McNamara ordered reporting restrictions in the case. She told the court that by naming the defendant, it would identify the defendant’s child.
The case is being prosecuted by Tusla, the Child and Family Agency.
A Solictor for Tusla told Judge McNamara that the child had been “100 per cent absent from school” since the issuing of the summons.
Judge McNamara told the defendant that her daughter (13) should be going to school.
The defendants solicitor asked Judge McNamara to adjourn the case as he wanted to gather some mitigatory information. He also added that he wanted to go through the case with his client.
Judge McNamara adjourned the case for one month.
