Chnoc Liamhna storm to Corn Neasáin glory

IT PROVED pretty-much all one-way traffic in the Corn Neasáin decider in Parnell Park last week as Gaelscoil Chnoc Liamhna ran out 6-9 to 0-0 winners over St Patricks’ GNS.

The Knocklyon players proved a determined force right from the off, demonstrating some superb tackling and attacking play right the way through.

Amy Nic Cárthaigh inflicted the bulk of the damage on the Ringsend side, chalking up three goals and two points by the final whistle.

Cody Nic Oscair and Síomha Ní Eara also made their presence felt as they combined for a haul of 3-4 while Holly O’Dell, Úna Ó Bréartúin and Caoimhe Ní Ghrádaigh each weighed in with a point.

The score of the match came in the form of a beautifully-executed point from a sideline ball by Ní Eára.

Player of the match, midfielder Úna Ó Bréartúin put on a magnificent display of fielding, blocking and crisp passing to supply the high-scoring forward line, while Holly O’Dell and Caoimhe Ní Dhonnchú were the stand-performers among the backs.

Captain Alanna Nic an Iarla raising the cup was a memorable moment for these Chnoc Liamhna players, a number of whom had endured defeat in the Cumann na mBunscol Finals back in 2019.
