Writing on Facebook the group said: “Someone has been taking plants from some of the barrels over the last few weeks and to make matters worse, last night two barrels were actually stolen and the contents strewn all over the footpath on New Road.”

The group asked people to keep a keen eye and report the careless vandalism.

They said: “The barrels are a great feature in the village, enjoyed by lots and that we are asking people to keep an eye on them and tell us if they see anyone interfering with them to let us know or Clondalkin Garda Station.”
