Community Choir supports St Mary’s JNS
“I THINK it is such a beautiful group, and what you are doing for the community goes beyond words,” remarks Maura O’Shea, principal of St Mary’s Junior National School in Rowlagh, Clondalkin.
The North Clondalkin Community Choir is “delighted” to be in a position to support St Mary’s JNS, according to Ruth Grogan.
It is their way to say “thank you” for providing a safe rehearsal home and concert venue for their choir.
The staff of St Mary’s provide an “invaluable” service and contribution to North Clondalkin which “enriches our community”.
The choir is proud to support St Mary’s JNS and presented a cheque of €900 to Ms O’Shea and deputy principal Sarah McDonald, which will directly support the pupils and school community.
Any investment in the education of children is money well spent, as it strengthens the community at multiple levels.
Music is “such a gift and has a real calming influence on lives”, according to Ms O’Shea.
She congratulates everyone who continues to engage in the choir, remarking that it is “no wonder” they needed a bigger space and are “inundated” with people who want to join.
North Clondalkin Community Choir are also looking forward to their end-of-summer performance on the last day of the Clondalkin Summer Festival on June 14.
Ruth reveals they will be in Clondalkin Village Church from 3pm, and they have a “wonderful” programme lined up for festival-goers.
They guarantee to have them singing along to a “hip-swinging” ABBA medley, Enya’s ‘Only Time’, The Cranberries’ ‘Dreams’ and Sting’s ‘Fields of Gold’.
One of their members, Dave Fadden, will be playing the Uilleann pipes and low whistle, and one of the younger members, Sofia Casciani, will be playing the guitar and singing a composition she wrote for a family member.
The choir are also “delighted” to announce that they are now enrolling new members in advance of their Autumn term in September.
