Community come out to support brave Reece

STAFF at a Ballyfermot creche are continuing their fundraising efforts this week to help a young footballer recover from a debilitating illness.
The Woodlands Creche and After School Service kickstarted a fundraising drive to help staff member’s son, receive treatment for Myelodysplastic Syndrome.

Reece Byrne (17), a talented former school boy player with Cherry Orchard FC, was recently diagnosed with a rare type of cancer.
The St John’s College student was due to take his Leaving Cert in June, but this now looks in doubt, as the illness requires chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.
Reece’s mother Adrienne, is a longtime employee at the creche in the Ballyfermot Family Resource Centre.
Woodlands staff organised a fundraiser at the Ballyfermot Family Resource Centre on March 21.
“It was a great turnout on the day, it’s brilliant to see the whole community coming together for Reece,” said Catherine Burrows, staff member at Woodlands.
“This week, we will be finishing off a number of raffles. Anyone who wants to buy some tickets is more than welcome to drop in.”
Cherry Orchard FC have also appealed for the public to support fundraising for Reece.
Funds raised will go towards travel costs to and from hospital and medical bills.
