TALLAGHT RFC men’s team got their season off to a perfect start with a first ever win over Malahide RFC in the John Madden Cup in Tymon Park on Saturday.

The hosts started the game poorly, conceding two soft tries to allow Malahide race ten points in front, but battled back to emerge emphatic 52-20 point winners.

Indeed once Tallaght got their game going they dominated the rest of the half scoring five tries without reply.

The game’s two dominant figures Adam Nolan and Simon Collie each registered two tries in the opening half with Emil Wyrebiak making up the balance in this period.

Morgan Farrell managed the game nicely at out-half and tacked on three conversions to give Tallaght a commanding 31-10 lead at half-time.

They kept the pressure on with Collie and Nolan completing their hat-tricks in the second half before Malahide chalked up a couple of consolation touchdowns.

The game also saw John Cowan come off the bench to score his first try for Tallaght with Farrell converting all the second half tries as Tallaght advanced to the semi-final where they will play Railway Union next week, again in Tymon Park.
