Croft craft launched with a dazzling display of colour

AN ART exhibition featuring work by residents of the Croft Nursing Home in Inchicore was launched in Ballyfermot Library last Thursday, July 14.

The exhibition includes vibrant mixed-media paintings and sun hats with floral detail that were created by a number of the nursing home’s residents. The exhibition will be on display until the end of this week.

A small number of staff from the nursing home, along with  the residents and their proud families, were there for the exhibition launch last week.

The exhibition is the culmination of several months of hard work by the residents, who created their pieces with the help of the Croft Nursing Home’s activities coordinator, Della Kelly.

Della previously told The Echo: “The artwork is their own style and, to them, it’s perfect. They’ve been working on it since February.

“They would’ve started off doing art once a week, then twice a week, and now it’s four times a week.

“They enjoy doing it and they’re proud of their work. They’re all very excited and very happy that people will be seeing their artwork.

“I think it’s brilliant for them, especially after the two years they’ve had where visitors were few and far between. Now they can show people what they’ve done.”

In a Facebook post, Ballyfermot Library praised the work of the residents of the nursing home and expressed their delight at hosting the exhibition.

“It is wonderful to see such beautiful artwork, full of colour and joy, on our walls,” stated a Ballyfermot Library spokesperson on Facebook.
