Darragh cuts 16 inches of hair for cancer charity

A LOCAL man got the chop by cutting 16 inches off his hair in order to raise funds for a cancer charity.

Darragh Langan, 24, from Rathfarnham, began growing his hair in October 2018 with the goal of donating it to charity so that it can be made into a wig for cancer patients.

Darragh says that he was inspired to do the fundraiser after witnessing his own mum’s fight with breast cancer, and the support she received from ARC Cancer Support.

Darragh’s Mother Lynda was diagnosed with cancer in 2018, at age 52. She has since made a full recovery and is grateful for the support she received from ARC Cancer Support.

ARC Cancer Support is a voluntary organization which provides professional support, therapies and counselling services to men and women living with cancer.

Their services are free of charge, and they rely heavily on fundraising efforts to provide their services in their two centres in Dublin.

As part of the fundraiser, Darragh raised over €5,000 for the charity that provide vital support for those post-cancer diagnosis and to their families as their loved ones battle with the illness.
